Souvenirs to remind you of a blissful Cayman holiday, collector’s items of genuine local art and craft, unique gemstones, treasures fished from the sea or unearthed on land; you can find all this and more at this open-air market.
Local artisans can be seen creating daily, as they make handicrafts from local materials and recycled products like one-of-a-kind jewellery made from beans, shells, soda can tabs or placemats, rugs, handbags and purses made from recycled paper and other products.
Below is a list of products found at the Cayman Craft Market:
Caymanite
The gemstone of the Cayman Islands
Caymanite is a rare semi-precious rock found only in the Cayman Islands. A hard dolomite, formed during the Oligocene-Miocene epoch, Caymanite has layers of colours in beautiful earth tones, formed by the different metallic content of the strata.
Black coral
Treasures from the deep
You will also find a fascinating collection of black coral jewellery and accent pieces at the Craft Market. The polished sea coral has a fine lustre and sculpted pieces make for some very valuable and long lasting works of art.
